Experience
I have over fifteen years of teaching and tutoring in a variety of roles. I spent six years teaching theory of knowledge for the IB and religion, ethics and philosophy (OCR and Edexcel), as well as English language. I spent three of these years as head of department at a secondary school. Before this, I spent five years in Japan and China teaching English. I'm also experienced as a form tutor and academic mentor and supervisor for project-based courses such as the project qualifications (often known as FPQ, HPQ and EPQ). All these roles have involved a lot of small group and one-to-one work and a strong focus on understanding the individual needs and motivations of my learners. I've also taught numerous individual learners everything from essay-writing skills, to pronunciation and philosophy. I've also worked as a professional examiner for OCR A-level religious studies. I've often helped to improve the confidence of anxious students or helped students recognise their own strengths where others have not.
